Are you tired of the direction you are going in?  Do you want to see a change in your life?  Are you feeling lost?  I am here to be with you on your journey of transformation.

As a therapist, my goal is to help you find solutions that work for you.  Every person is different, and I want to work with you to find a solution that fits your needs and desires.  I work to develop a judgement free environment where you can feel comfortable exploring the issues that you are confronting.  My belief is that a therapist should both comfort and challenge you, should work with you to foster a deeper understanding of who you are and where you want to go, and encourage you to make your own choices for the direction you want your life to go in.

As an integrated therapist, I work with a number of different theoretical approaches: cognitive-behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy, solution-focused therapy, and experiential therapy, amongst others.  There is no one theraputic approach that fits everyone, and people’s needs change, so I work to change with your needs.  I want to create an environment that enables you to grow, make healthy choices, increase your self-awareness, and empower you to change.

About Me

I am a married father of three and I have lived in Sacramento for nearly 20 years.  I earned my Bachelors degree in International Relations from UC Davis and my Masters of Counseling from National University.  I am a black belt and an Eagle Scout.  I enjoy sports, reading, and spending time with my family.

I have worked with children of all ages and in different settings, from summer camps to schools to counseling.  I have worked with people from all different stripes of life and I love the growth and understanding that comes from these interactions.

I got into therapy because of a desire to make a difference in both the world and, more importantly, the lives of individuals.  I want to work with you to help you find the strength to make the changes that you need to be able to lead a more fulfilling and enjoyable life.  I believe you have that strength even when you feel you do not and I will be there to help you find it.

I see individuals, couples, and families, as well as both children and adults from all over the Sacramento region.  I specialize in men’s issues, depression, and anxiety.

What are men’s issues?

Men often have to deal with standards about how to express, or not express, emotions.  These standards are often detrimental to us because we have often been told when growing up to “be tough” or “suck it up” or “boys don’t cry”.  We are expected to hold our emotions inside, bottle them up, pretend that they do not exist.  We are pressured into being robot-like, as if we can go through life without ever feeling hurt, scared, or unsure.

The reality could not be further from the truth.  Men do feel these things, and I work to create an environment where men feel safe exploring them.  I want to help remove the stigma for men that surrounds the idea that they too have feelings and emotional needs that need to be nourished and appreciated.
